I was helping Brad with lighting setups yesterday and he let me take this shot after he ran out of ideas. I kinda mucked the exposure since her face is too blown out and she’s got a weird shadow from her arm, but I liked the pose/high angle (I was on my tippy-toes). 3-strobe setups are sweet.
My house was terrible at fielding and hitting, but it was a good time and really fun to play anyway.
I went home for the weekend and had a chance to shoot an Illinois football scrimmage with Jeremy Berg on Saturday in Oak Park (half an hour from my house). I stopped by Calumet before the practice to buy a new Eyepiece for my 1D (they ordered the wrong one, but I called in and changed the order); I also bought some gaffers tape and toyed with the idea of renting a 1.4x teleconverter (however, I’d have to return it on Monday). The scrimmage was pretty fun, the weather was great and I got a lot of shots during the practice part of it that you don’t normally get to see during the game, while the scrimmage part was good practice for an actual game day.
I shot soccer for the first time last night and saw the weather change five times in the matter of a few hours. I wish I had a longer lens or teleconverter because I had to do some extreme cropping (losing more than 50% of my resolution) at 200mm.

It was fun (even though it’s not quite action packed), and I’d enjoy shooting it again (with a 300mm+ lens!).
On Sunday I played some sandlot baseball with my buddies.
Afterwards we ate some cheese, drank some beer, and played videogames. You know, manly stuff (haha).
