Bowling at Night

Wednesday Night II: Part 6 of a 13-part series of photos documenting my trip to New York:

  • Got off the Subway on 14th street. By now I think I had a really good understanding of the MTA subways system.
  • When we got off some guy was washing off the pavement. Not sure why, and it smelled funny, but I didn’t really mind because wet concrete + artificial lights = my fav!
  • We waited for my cousins Nerissa, Charlene, and  Sam and Jon at a COFFEE shop.
  • We went bowling! I achieved my goal of breaking 100 and throwing the ball as hard as I could. I think if I practiced my finesse game instead of power bowling I’d get more strikes and spares. :P
  • Afterward, we drove back to Jersey City via the Holland Tunnel. Nerf’s car odometer was at 99,998 miles by the time we got back to the apartment, I was sad that I didn’t get to see it rollover to 100k.

New Yankee Stadium

Wednesday Afternoon: Part 3 of a 13-part series of photos documenting my trip to New York:

  • Met up with Carag to go to a Yankees Game
  • New Yankee Stadium: it’s nice, but I was expecting more out of a billion dollar stadium (like there aren’t enough defining features).
  • I ate (and spent) too much. Did you know they sell Sushi and Steak here?
  • It was pretty overcast all day which sucked, besides getting rained on a little bit. They also made me check in my bag and twirl around while lifting up my t-shirt.
  • I got asked if I wanted to buy a Fukudome pin for $1 by a random stranger (I was wearing my Cubs hat). I declined the offer once I found out it wasn’t free.

To Wrigley and Back

I expect there to be a few more trips to Wrigleyville later this summer. I was apparently on TV (bleacher cam)! Woohoo!

I’ve been sorta lazy about narrowing down the amount of shots I throw into a gallery. I’ll try to be more selective and choose the winners, but I like to share the entirety of my adventures, so it’s hard for me to let go of some crappier shots. I know which ones I personally like better anyway.

Here Come the Bulls

I’ve been watching every playoff game for the Bulls so far and they are just too damn exciting. I decided to document the chapter room (our TV room) during the final minute of the 3rd OT in panoramic form. I shot manual/fixed focus, went from left to right, and stitched everything together.  This was my first panorama with a lot of people in it, so I was a little unsure of how it would turn out. There’s a couple of seams I was too lazy to fix (Mike is missing an arm), the color temp was sort of a bitch because of different temperature CFLs, and Adam on the left is prolly the only thing in focus. But overall, I think it came out OK. Take a look (click for a large scrolly version):

I’m so glad I got to shoot a Bulls game this season even if it was only in exhibition. These two photos have been the wallpapers for my desktop and laptop for more than 6 months now:

Check out photos from that game in my archive here. At some point in my life I’d like to shoot a Cubs game from the media spot with a 400mm lens. I can’t even imagine…
