Post Historic @ Canopy Club – Champaign, IL (1/29/2009)
The lighting in the small room at Canopy sucks. At first I decided I was going to play around with my strobe and second curtain sync some photos, but these guys weren’t moving and I didn’t really get anything worthwhile. So, I gave up and decided to go wide for the rest of the night and shoot at ISO 6400. GRAIN’ed!
Aside from photo stuff– Jesse, Yoo Soo, Zach, (and Pat) played a lot of new stuff that sounded great. Every time I see them play their sound is progressively getting more defined and fantastic.
5 Songs on my iPod (I’m gonna watch Jeff Tweedy tonight!)
- “Either Way “- Wilco, Sky Blue Sky
- “Impossible Germany” – Wilco, Sky Blue Sky
- “She’s a Jar” – Wilco, Summerteeth
- “I’m Trying To Break Your Heart” – Wilco, Hotel Yankee Foxtrot
- “Pick Up the Change” – Wilco, AM
[UPDATE: Tweedy was amazing! He has a great rapport with his fans and played a lot of songs that the casual Wilco fan (who’s only listened to Sky Blue Sky, A Ghost is Born, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, Summerteeth, Being There, and AM) like me hasn’t ever heard. I wish I could’ve brought my SLR, or even had a back-up point and shoot (G10!). Instead, here’s a crappy cameraphone shot.]
Wide is the way to go. Low angles and sweet spots are also a must.
if only jeff tweedy played impossible germany and “cheah cheah”d the entire guitar solo at the end.
why dont you have any t pain singing about pepsi?
