I was doing the dishes late one afternoon last week, looked out the window, and saw a deer laying on my lawn! I don’t see bambi’s kind very often, let alone so far away from the forest preserve, so I ran upstairs, grabbed my camera, and said ‘ello!

Snowpocalypse
Here’s a few from shoveling after the big snowstorm. I wanted to go into the city to take some street walk / pedestrian / abandoned CTA photos but it was kind of a mess and I had to help my dad out when I was in the city.
Window of Opportunity
Was photo editing tonight and my neice came into my room and said “Orange clouds!” and pointed out the window. I snapped this one and I looked outside again five minutes later and the sky was full blue with no clouds.
I feel like I get this same picture (clouds silouette’d against a beautiful sky from inside a room or car) a few times a year. One of these days I’m gonna catch a break and be out walking in a cornfield or on a beach or in the city the next time the sky decides to pretty itself up.
Insect Deathmatch
On Friday I was making breakfast and I noticed there was a wasp that managed to get into my house and was buzzing around, much to my chagrin. I was able to swat it with my newspaper, but I merely stunned it, and I had a really hard time looking for where it landed. Lo and behold, it landed onto a spiders web near the floorboards. What resulted was the greatest 20 minutes of an insect fight to the death that I have ever witnessed in my young life. Stingers ablaze, the two battled until the victor was crowned. A thrust of the stinger from the wasp. The spider retreats. A rush onto the back of the wasp and a struggle. Another retreat. Repeat.
I lost interest after absolutely nothing happened for a period of time, but ultimately I checked in later and saw that the spider’s web was probably too much for the wasp to overcome and escape.
Photo notes: I miss having a 100mm macro.
